School records fall at 2022 Ashton May Invitational
La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-Platteville track and field program competed at the Ashton May Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Among the season and personal best performances on the day, 5 school records were officially broke.
La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-Platteville track and field program competed at the Ashton May Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Among the season and personal best performances on the day, 5 school records were officially broke.
First, Justin Eichler won the hammer throw in school record fashion. Eichler marked a throw of 60.39m (198-1). The previous record was held by Jacob Dailey from 2013. Eichler shattered it by over 3 feet and ranks in at No. 2 in NCAA DIII national rankings.
Cade VanHout won the 100m dash with a school record-setting time of 10.51 seconds. His 100m time leads the national rankings. VanHout finished in fourth place in the 200m dash, setting a personal best time of 21.49 seconds, which ranks among the top 10 in the nation.
Gwen Orr continued to improve upon her own school records, running 12.11 seconds in the 100m dash and 24.82 seconds in the 200m dash. Orr's 100m time ranks among the top 10 nationally, her 200m time ranks in the top 5 nationally.
Lastly, Brianna Leahy threw 14.83m (48-8) in the shot put to improve upon her school record. Leahy has the leading shot put throw among all of NCAA DIII. Leahy finished in second place for discus, throwing 39.89m (130-10). She also saw a personal best in the hammer throw, 37.12m (121-9).
Teams in attendance included UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Eau Claire, Wartburg College, Augustana College, and Viterbo. A full listing of results can be found at letsgopioneers.com. Pioneer Men
Zach Zenner – Took third in the 400m dash with a personal best time of 49.40 seconds.
Logan Bell – The freshman posted a time of 4:01.28 in the 1500m run.
Cole Stugelmeyer – Ran 15.11 seconds in the 110m hurdles to place second.
Bryce Bierman – Took second in the high jump with a clearance of 2.03m (6-8).
Jacob Rice – Marked a personal best 6.59m (21-3.25) in the long jump to place eighth.
Weston Pink – Jumped 13.55m (44-5.50) in the triple jump, taking fourth place.
Ben Veverka – Won the discus, throwing a season best 47.95m (157-4). Threw another season best in the shot put, marking 14.33m (47-0.25) for fourth place.
Alex Girard – Took second in the discus, throwing a season best 47.30m (155-2).
Will Lawrence – Threw a personal best in the javelin, 50.66m (166-2), to take fifth place.
4x100m Relay – The team of Rice, VanHout, Jacob Downing, and Derrick Turner took first place with a time of 41.95 seconds.
Pioneer Women
Samantha Meyer – Took third in the 5,000m run, finishing in season best time of 19:12.90.
Jessica Buss – Crossed the finish line of the 400m hurdles with a season best time of 1:06.48 for fourth place.
Shannon Wulf – Long jumped a personal best mark of 5.19m (17-0.50).
Alexis Healey – Long jumped a season best mark of 5.18m (17-0).
Kelli Schneider – Marked a season best in the triple jump, 11.17m (36-7.75) to take ninth place.
Lizzie Andrews – The freshman triple jumped a personal best mark of 10.41m (34-2).
Brenna Noon – Took third in the shot put with a season best mark of 13.57m (44-6.25). She also saw personal best marks in the discus and hammer throw.
Paulina Wienke – Finished hammer throw in fourth place, throwing 47.32m (155-3).
