Faust and Steiner named All-Americans on day two

Geneva, Ohio – The Pioneers named two All-Americans on day two of competition at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Cody Faust and Noah Steiner each took home third place in their respective events of the decathlon and high jump.

Faust, a senior from Monroe, Wis., took third place in the decathlon, scoring 6,951 points to break his own school record by 250 points. Faust ran 15.46 seconds in the 110m hurdles, the seventh best time in the field of decathletes. In the decathlon discus, Faust threw the sixth best mark, tossing 35.12m (115-3). Faust excelled in the pole vault, finishing with the best mark among decathletes, clearing 4.70m (15-5). In the javelin, the ninth event in the ten-event series, Faust threw 49.64m (162-10). Wrapping up the decathlon, Faust ran the 1500m in 4:52.10.

Steiner finished in third place in the men's high jump. Steiner, a junior, soared over 2.09m (6-10.25), just one centimeter below his school record breaking mark cleared earlier this season.

Rachel Beuthin competed in the women's shot put, throwing 13.46m (44-2). Beuthin took tenth place of the 22 competitors.

In the preliminary heats of the 110m hurdles, Gifford contested for a spot in the finals running 14.46 seconds. Gifford has the eighth best time going into Saturday.

In the 800m run, two Pioneers contested in the preliminary heats. Johanna Meister ran 2:14.99 in the women's 800m run. Meister finished in 14^th place among the 22 participants. Zach Lee ran 1:52.28 in the men's 800m run. Lee missed qualifying to finals by fractions of a second, placing tenth among 20 runners.

On Saturday, three Pioneers will compete in the final heats of the 110m hurdles, 1500m, and 400m hurdles. Gifford will take on the 110m hurdles, Lee will compete in the 1500m, and Matt Hokanson will run the 400m hurdles.
