Pioneers compete at 2019 Drake Relays
Des Moines – The Pioneers traveled three relays and three individual athletes to compete at the Drake Relays hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, April 27 – Saturday, April 27.
Des Moines – The Pioneers traveled three relays and three individual athletes to compete at the Drake Relays hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, April 27 – Saturday, April 27.
Competing on Friday, Charlie Gifford raced in the 110m hurdles where he saw a personal best time on the blue track. Gifford ran 14.43 seconds for 15th place.
Brittany Ehlen competed in the women's pole vault. The senior cleared 3.60m (11-9.75) and placed tied for 12th place.
Tied for ninth place, Noah Steiner jumped 2.03m (6-8) in the men's high jump event.
The 4x400m relay of John Huntley, Matt Hokanson, Kyle Buechner, and Alec Burcham ran 3:18.89.
A women's sprint medley relay consisting of Gwen Orr, Haley Ott, Katie Schilling, and Johanna Meister ran in for ninth place. Orr and Ott ran 200m, followed by Schilling running the 400m leg and Meister running 800m.
The shuttle hurdle relay was contested Saturday. The team of Matt Hokanson, Sean Komro, Gifford, and Jacob DeBonis ran for fourth place with a time of 1:03.02.
The Pioneers return to competition at the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by UW-Platteville on May 3 – 4.
