Pioneers tune up at UW-Whitewater for upcoming WIAC Championships
Whitewater, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin – Platteville track and field team competed at UW-Whitewater on Friday, April 26. The Pioneers were putting together final tune ups on the outdoor season before heading into the WIAC Championships weekend.

In the men's 100m dash, Zach Frei improved on his lifetime best, running a time of 11.04 in the finals. Both Riley Bendorf and Ryan Swanson ran in the men's 200m dash. Bendorf clocked 23.28 seconds, and Swanson ran 23.32 seconds.
Davy Urke ran a solid performance in the 400m dash, crossing the finish line in 51.69 seconds. Jacob Downing ran 51.81, a personal best time.
Chenoa Stuhr took fifth place in the 100m dash, with a time of 12.88 seconds in the finals. Stuhr took second place in the 200m dash with a time of 27.00 seconds. Antgentina Bean ran 27.76 seconds for eighth place in the 200m dash.
Senior Zach Lee won the 800m run in a time of 1:53.74. Zach Klokow won the 1500m run in a time of 4:06.47, a lifetime best time. Alex Clark also ran a lifetime best in the 1500m, running 4:14.23.
In the women's 1500m, Caitlyn Ifft ran 4:59.26 to take third place. Ifft's time established a lifetime best time for the junior in the 1500m run.
Running for third place in the 100m hurdles, Casey Rielly ran 16.04 seconds, a personal best time for her. Also taking third place, Katheryn Holter ran 1:09.88 in the 400m hurdles. In the men's 110m hurdles, freshman Cole Stugelmeyer ran 15.93 seconds for seventh place.
In the 3,000m steeplechase, Danielle Nelson ran a personal best time of 12:21.05 as did Kirstie Ramsey who ran 12:54.55. Paul King in the 3,000m steeplechase ran 10:32.06.
Kyle Herbrand ran in the 5,000m run, clocking a time one second off his personal best time, 15:24.07. Nick Hein ran a personal best time, dipping under 16 minutes for the first time, crossing the line in 15:49.44.
Clearing 4.35m (14-3.25) in the pole vault pole, Jack Soda tied his personal best mark. Drew Stanioch jumped just a centimeter off his personal best in the long jump, marking 6.29m (20-7.75). Leaping to a season best mark, senior Brian Spaeth jumped 13.55m (44.-5.5) in the triple jump.
Rachel Beuthin took third place in the shot put with a throw of 13.20m (43-3.75) as well as the hammer throw with a mark of 45.49m (149-3). Teammate Brianna Hall took fifth place in the shot put with 12.24m (40-2). Murphy Bleymeyer took sixth in both the shot put and discus with marks of 12.14m (39-10) and 36.35m (119-3) respectively. Beuthin took second in the discus throw with a throw of 39.60m (129-11). Hall came in fifth place in the discus throw with 37.08m (121-8).
Cole Eastlick took fourth place in the shot put, marking 14.66m (48-1.25). Tyler Bacon threw 14.59m (47-10.5) in the shot put, a personal best throw. Alex Girard marked 14.47m (47-5.75). Girard won the men's discus event with a throw of 48.24m (158-3). Girard continued on his day to take second in the hammer throw, marking a lifetime best throw of 49.59m (162-8). Alexander Walechka marked 43.83m (143-9) in the men's discus for fifth place, and a lifetime best throw of 47.25m (155-0) in the hammer throw for sixth place.
Sophomore Jacob Rice took second place in the javelin with a throw of 49.29m (161-8). Tonie Johnson, making his debut in the javelin, placed eighth with a mark of 38.78m (127-3).
Coming up next, the Pioneers will host the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 3 – 4.
