Cody Faust named All-American in the decathlon
La Crosse, Wis. – Three Pioneer men competed on day two of competition at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Cody Faust finished the decathlon in seventh place, becoming an All-American. Following day one, Faust was in 15th place. After a personal best time in the 110m hurdles of 15.39 seconds, throwing 34.76m (114-0.5) in the discus, pole vaulting 4.50m (14-9), and throwing 49.61m (162-9.25) in the javelin, Faust was in seventh place. During the last event of the decathlon, the 1500m run, Faust ran 4:48.25 to confirm his seventh place overall finish in the decathlon. This was Faust's first All-American finish at the national championships.
Noah Steiner competed in the men's high jump on day two of the national championships. Steiner cleared 1.98m (6-6) and 2.03 (6-8) with no misses. Steiner cleared 2.06m (6-9) on his third attempt. The sophomore from Monticello, Iowa finished in 10th place at his second national championships appearance.
In the preliminary heats of the 100m dash, Rodrick McMiller advanced to the finals with a time of 10.91 seconds. After a nearly three hour lightening delay, the sprinters took to the track experiencing much cooler temperatures. McMiller has advanced to the finals of the 100m dash and 200m dash to be competed Saturday, May 26 along with Walker Rynes in the 5,000m run. For a full list of live results click here.
