Rynes and Hokanson qualify to outdoor nationals at last chance meets
Naperville, Ill. – Two Pioneers made their way onto the national qualifying list at the Dr. Keeler Last Chance Meet held at North Central College. Senior Walker Rynes competed in the 5,000m run on Thursday, May 10. Rynes battled for a personal best time of 14:24.71. Rynes creeped up to No. 8 in the NCAA DIII national rankings.
Sophomore Matt Hokanson competed in the 400m hurdles on Friday, May 11. Hokanson ran a personal best time of 53.05 seconds to move up to No. 12 on the NCAA DIII national rankings. Both Rynes and Hokanson will prepare to compete at the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships at UW–La Crosse on Thursday, May 24 - Satruday, May 26.
Many other Pioneers competed at the Dr. Keeler Last Chance Meet, as well at the Eagle Open at UW–La Crosse, with notable performances from both the Pioneer men's and women's programs. Athletes will look to one more last chance meet this Thursday, May 17 at UW–La Crosse to post a qualifying time or mark.
