Ehlen and Steiner prepare to compete at Drake Relays
Des Moines, Iowa – Characterized by its blue, oval track, Drake University is host to one of the most prestigious track and field events in the United States. High school, collegiate, and world-class athletes compete in relay events as well as individual events making it an event for each level to enjoy. Two student-athletes from UW – Platteville will represent the Pioneers at the 2018 Drake Relays, junior Brittany Ehlen and sophomore Noah Steiner.
Ehlen will compete in the women's pole vault. Her college best of 3.73m (12-2.75) was achieved at the 2018 WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted at UW – Stevens Point where she placed second. The Burlington, Wis. native currently holds the UW – Platteville indoor and outdoor track and field school record in the pole vault. Ehlen will compete at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27.
Also a school record holder, Steiner has tied the UW – Platteville indoor and outdoor track and field school record in the high jump. He cleared 2.08m (6-9.75) to tie the indoor track and field high jump school record at the 2018 WIAC Indoor Championships where he became the WIAC indoor track and field high jump champion. At the UW – Platteville Open on April 7 of this year, Steiner went on to tie the outdoor track and field high jump record improving his personal best to 2.09m (6-10.25). The Monticello, Iowa native will take on men's high jump at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 27 at Drake Relays.
