Last chance meet held at William's Fieldhouse
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s and women’s indoor track and field team hosted the Platteville Last Chance Meet for athletes looking to make a run for a position in the NCAA Championships held in Winston-Salem, NC on March 13 and 14.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's and women's indoor track and field team hosted the Platteville Last Chance Meet for athletes looking to make a run for a position in the NCAA Championships held in Winston-Salem, NC on March 13 and 14.
The meet took place Friday evening in William's Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers managed to churn out a number of victories at the meet, in which schools from around the state, as well as from Iowa and Illinois, participated in.
Ashlynne Wampfler led all runners in the women's 800 with a time of 2:22.07.
Behind a 1.69-meter finish from a Wartburg competitor, the Pioneers' Alyssa Iserman finished second with a leap of 1.66, while Caitlin Thomson took third clearing 1.61 meters.
Amber Williams took first in both the long jump and triple jump events. In the long jump her and her competitor both landed a 5.19-meter trial, but Williams took fewer jumps. Williams won outright in the triple jump with a measure of 11.41 meters.
Finishing only three seconds behind the leader, UW-Platteville's Ian LaMere took second in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:38.52.
The men's pole vault duo of Garrett Riggs and Matt Dwyer controlled the top two spots in the event. Although they both cleared 4.76 meters, Riggs took the least amount of jumps, while Dwyer was second with four failed attempts.
Kyle Whaley led all shotput throwers with a toss of 16.50 meters.
The Pioneers will send a few more athletes to the Stevens Point Last Chance Meet tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m.
