Pioneers compete at Wartburg Twilight
The Pioneer track and field teams competed well against top competition Friday night at the Wartburg Twilight in Waverly, Iowa.

The Pioneer track and field teams competed well against top competition Friday night at the Wartburg Twilight in Waverly, Iowa.
Women's Results
In the 400-meter dash, Lynea Axelson took seventh with a time of 1:00.90
Rebecca Mathias placed seventh in the mile run, finishing in 5:49.16
The Pioneers placed three runners in the top seven of the 5,000-meter run, as Chelsey Heiden took first (18:24.04), Kiera Depies placed fourth (19:04.89) and Andrea Knutson took seventh (19:40.45).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Axelson, Amber Williams, Stephanie Wyss and Krysta Parson took second with a time of 4:05.02.
The Pioneers placed five in the top seven of the high jump, as Caitlin Thomson won the event with a leap of 1.63 meters (5-04.25), Wyss placed third with a bound of 1.58 meters, (5-02.25) and Mary-Katherine Kladar took fourth with a jump of 1.53 meters (5-00.25). Alyssa Iserman (1.53 meters, 5-00.25) and Sarah Adamson (1.53 meters, 5-00.25) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
In the long jump, Williams placed first with a jump of 5.50 meters (18-00.50), while Emily Kjos came in seventh with a jump of 5 meters (16-05.00).
Jessica Jentz finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 9.94 meters (32-07.50).
Men's Results
Mitchell Dowell (7.21) and Caleb Mertens (7.22) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 60-meter dash. Dowell also took third in the 200-meter dash (22.85), while Mertens took sixth (23.04) in the 200. Brandon Navin placed seventh (23.10) in the 200 as well.
In the 800-meter race, Jason Henkins took second with a time of 1:55.21, while Adam Lange took fifth with a time of 1:57.21.
Matthew Smith placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:38.21.
T.J. Valley (8.30) and Patrick Kessenich (8.57) took first and second, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.
The 4x400 relay team of Tim Laursen, Kessenich, Valley and Brad Jurewicz finished second with a time of 3:23.59.
In the high jump, Ace McCarty finished second with a leap of 1.94 meters (6-04.25).
Jared Bradfish, the reigning WIAC Field Athlete of the Week, won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.76 meters (15-07.25). Garrett Riggs (4.36 meters, 14-03.50) took fourth, Marshall Trajkovski (4.36 meters, 14-03.50) finished sixth and Matthew Dwyer (4.36 meters, 14-03.50) placed seventh.
Matt Brendemihl took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.31 meters (43-08.00).
In the shot put, Kyle Whaley took sixth with a toss of 14.90 meters (48-10.75).
Wyatt Scheck placed fifth in the weight throw with a throw of 14.72 meters (48-03.50).
The Pioneers return home on Saturday for the UW-Platteville Invitational. Events begin at 11 a.m.
