Track and field has good showings at separate events

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams had strong showings at the Jack Jennett Invitational at the University of Northern Iowa and the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout.

Women's Results
Chelsea Delzer, Kiera Depies, Chelsey Heiden and Alyssa Iserman all took home wins in their events.
Delzer took first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.83), Depies won the mile run (5:25.27), Heiden took the top spot in the 3000-meters (10:38.14) and Iserman won the high jump with a leap of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches).
The Pioneers had three other women in the top five of the mile run, as Olivia Bukowski took second (5:35.76), Andrea Knutson placed third (5:36.75) and Ashlynne Wampfler finished fifth (5:44.83).
Krysta Parson had two top-four finishes on the day, taking second in the 400-meters (1:02.44) and fourth in the 200-meters (27.43).
Kelsey Reed placed third in the 400-meters with a time of 1:02.75, and Tess Burns took fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:04.03.
Lynea Axelson took third in the 800-meter with a time of 2:24.20.
Allison Wells placed third in the 3000-meter run (11:43.40).
Jessica Jentz took third in the triple jump with a bound of 10.18 meters (33 feet, 4.8 inches).
Caitlin Thomson finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 3 inches).
Men's Results
Jason Henkins, T.J. Valley, and Patrick Kessenich all placed first in their events Saturday.
Henkins won the 800-meter in 1:57.50, Valley won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.34 seconds and Kessenich won the 400-meter hurdles in 56.91 seconds.
Brad Jurewicz (51.79) and Tim Laursen (52.03) took third and fourth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash.
Darrell Simms (12.99 meters/42 feet, 7.5 inches) and Matt Brendemihl (12.85 meters/42 feet, 2 inches) took third and fourth, respectively in the triple jump.
Benjamin Rhode took fourth in the 800-meter run (2:00.36), Drake Rooney placed fourth in the mile (4:42.71) and Austin Lloyd took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.73).
Ace McCarty placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4.75 inches), and Caleb Mertens took fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.77).

Women's Results
Amber Williams led the women's team at UW-Stout, taking first in the triple jump (11.3 meters) and second in the long jump (5.22 meters).
Emily Kjos took fourth in the long jump (4.74 meters) and Kelly Provancher took seventh (4.6 meters).
Caitlin Hare placed seventh in the pole vault with a 2.65 meter leap.
Men's Results
Kyle Whaley took second in the shot put with a 15.44 meter throw. Jon Petrie placed eighth with a throw of 14.27 meters.
Matt Dwyer placed third in the pole vault with a leap of 4.35 meters. Alex Gasper placed ninth with a jump of 4.05 meters.
Alex Niehaus placed tenth in the high jump with a jump of 5.95 meters.
Kyle Utecht placed 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.98, and Joel Walden placed 11th in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 8:50.05.
The track and field teams return to action Feb. 7 at the Wartburg Select.
