Dailey breaks school record in All-American performance
Senior Jacob Dailey became the second Pioneer earn All-American honors this week.

LA CROSSE, Wis.— The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers competed in the second day at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at UW-La Crosse.
Jacob Dailey, a senior from Platteville, Wis., began the day competing in the hammer throw. On his second attempt, Daily threw 194 feet and 9.5 inches breaking the school record previously set by Bryan Cunningham in 1997 of 190 feet and one inch. That mark also secured him a sixth place spot on the podium, an All-American title and a new personal best.
"Breaking the schools record has been a long time coming," said Daily. "I've had that on my goals list all year. This whole experience has been emotional. I took a minute after I threw to reflect on everything; it's great to go out on a high note."
Matt Ziegler, a senior from Madison, Wis., qualified for the 400 meter's, running a time of 48.04 and is seeded seventh. The men's 400-meter run will compete at 3:50 p.m. tomorrow.
Aaron Hrubes, a senior from Madison, Wis., ran the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.78 and just missing finals, placing 11th.
T.J. Valley, a junior from Prairie du Chien, Wis., also missed qualifying for finals in the 110-meter high hurdles, as he placed 15th, running a time of 10.78.
Lynea Axelson, a junior from Oregon, Ill., ran the 800-meter preliminaries and placed 21st in the nation with a time of 2:16:04.
Hrubes will run the 200-meter dash finals tomorrow at 5:20 p.m., while Dan Poh, a sophomore from Crivitz, Wis., and Mark Niemann of Crystal Lake, Ill., will begin the day competing in the men's javelin throw tomorrow at 12:40 p.m.
