Pioneers compete at Drake Relays
The UW-Platteville Pioneers competed in the first day of the Drake Relays, America’s Athletic Classic, hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers competed in the first day of the Drake Relays, America's Athletic Classic, hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Jordan Olp, a senior from Reedsville, Wis., Wis., Casey Goffinet, a senior from Platteville, Wis., Caleb Mertens, a freshman from Brookfield, Wis., and Aaron Hrubes, a senior from Madison, Wis., ran a time of 41.43 seconds and are seeded fifth going into the finals.
The men's 4x200 meter relay team consisting of Matt Ziegler, a senior from Madison, Wis., Olp, Goffinet and Hrubes ran a time of 1:27.99 taking seventh place.
In the javelin throw, senior Mark Niemann, from Crystal Lake, Ill., captured 11th place, throwing 187 feet and two inches, while sophomore Dan Poh, from Crivitz, Wis., took 19th place 180 feet and eight inches.

The rest of the Pioneers will compete at the Loras Open, hosted by Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa tomorrow.
