Spangenberg Earns All-America in Pole Vault
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The UW-Platteville had four athletes complete at the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, hosted by North Central (Ill.) with Chas Spangenberg highlighting the day with all-American honors.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville had four athletes complete at the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, hosted by North Central (Ill.) with Chas Spangenberg highlighting the day with all-American honors.
Senior Spangenberg earned all-America honors in the pole vault. He cleared 16-00.50-feet to finish seventh, which put the Pioneers in 17th-place with two points in the team rankings after the first day.
Senior Deidre Dillman and Junior T.J. Valley each advanced to the finals on Saturday. Dillman the only woman Pioneer competing at nationals finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.20 and was one of four to break the facility record of 2:11.57. Valley won the 60-meter hurdles prelims and crossed the finish line at 8.09.
Senior Aaron Hrubes ended his indoor career finishing 10th in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 6.94.
Dillman, Valley and freshman Ian LaMere all compete tomorrow in the final day of the Indoor Track & Field Championships.
