Hrubes and Spangenberg Set New School Records at UW-Platteville Invite
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville men’s and women’s track and field teams hosted the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse with two Pioneers breaking school records.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's and women's track and field teams hosted the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse, and had two Pioneers breaking school records.
Senior Chas Spangenberg from Appleton, Wis., made the Fieldhouse roar by vaulting 16 feet 2 inches to break the school pole vault record. Spangenberg now sits third on the national qualifying list.
Senior Aaron Hrubes also had a great afternoon by winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.88 and breaking his own school record. The Madison, Wis. native, is currently ranked third in the national qualifying list.
Senior Jordan Olp from Reedsville, Wis. ran a season-best with a time of 22.40 seconds claiming the 200-meter dash title. Freshman Ian LaMere won the 3000-meter run with a time of 8.43.04.
Senior T.J. Valley continued his solid indoor season by winning the 60-meter hurdles crossing the finish line in 8.17 seconds while Aaron Loferski followed with a time of 8.31 seconds for second place.
On the women's side, senior Deidre Dillman highlighted the Pioneers' day by winning the 800-meter run in 2:12.24 for a season-best and beating the rest the field by 12 seconds. Freshman Kiera Depies took home the 5000-meter title with a time of 19:05. 38.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday at North Central (Ill.) for their final meet before the 2013 WIAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 23, hosted by UW-Stevens Point.
