Pioneer Men Finish 12th at NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's track and field team finished 12th at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Grinnell, Iowa.
The Pioneers were led by the second-place finish from Patrick Klein in the mile, who was running in his final collegiate race. The Monroe native crossed the line in 4:10.36 to earn All-American honors. He also was 13th in the 5,000-meter run.
Three first-time individual qualifiers earned All-American honors for the Pioneers. Junior Ben Farrell was fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.16, sophomore Ace McCarty was sixth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 6-8 3/4 and sophomore T.J. Valley was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.36.
The Pioneer women 4x400-meter relay team of Ann Tank, Carshella Porter, Stephanie Wyss and Deidre Dillman just missed out on All-American honors with a ninth-place finish time of 3:55.42.
