UW-Platteville Men Take Fifth at WIAC Indoor Championship
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's track and field
team finished fifth at the 2011 WIAC Indoor Championships in
Menomonie, Wisconin at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. UW-La
Crosse won their fourth-straight league crown with 165.50
points.
The Pioneers' Patrick Klein was victorious in a UW-Stout
Fieldhouse record time of 4:12.04 and third in the 800-meter run
(1:55.18). Aaron Loferski and T.J. Valley went one-two in the
55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.76 and 7.77, respectively. The
marks are just shy of the NCAA provisional mark of 7.75.
Also for UW-Platteville, Jason Garvens was third in the
5,000-meter run in a time of 15:03.09. and Nate Petesch was sixth
in the mile (4:17.99) and in the 3,000-meter run (8:37.54). Also,
in the 3,000-meter run, Anthony Swimm was seventh (8:37.54). Aaron
Hrubes finished seventh in the 55-meter dash (6.50)
The Pioneers' 4x200-meter relay team of Hrubes, Jordan Olp, Lynn
Oyawiri and Matthew Ziegler were second in 1:29.70, just eight
hundredths of a second behind champion UW-Oshkosh. In the mile
relay, Hrubes, Ziegler, Brandon Harms and Ben Farrell took sixth in
a time of 3:23.78 and in the distance medley relay team of Scott
Clark, Damon Trainor, Reese Mersberger and Derek Fahrenkrug in a
time of 10:46.66 took seventh.
In the field events, UW-Platteville's Jared Bradfish shared
fifth-place honors with a clearance of 14-9 1/2. Jake Wiederholt
was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 50-6 3/4.
