Coe no-hits Pioneers

Coe College threw two softball shutouts against host UW-Platteville Monday, including a combined no-hitter in the five-inning opener.
The Kohawks' Ashlee Simon threw the first four hitless innings in the 12-0 victory, while Katie Kramer pitched the final frame. Chelsea Zaugg hit a three-run home run in the contest, ended by the eight-run rule.
Coe won the second game 8-0 behind 11 strikeouts by Sonja Scwenker, who pitched all seven innings. Tera Burr, Whitney Foltz and Destiny Glasson had singles for the Pioneers. Coe led just 1-0 after three innings, but scored four in the fourth, two in the sixth and one more in the seventh.
The Kohawks improved to 18-6 on the year, while UWP fell to 3-11.
