Grayczyk Interning With Iowa Cubs
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Another member of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team spent the summer around the baseball diamond as senior Autumn Grayczyk interned as a stadium operations intern for the Iowa Cubs baseball team.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Another member of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team spent the summer around the baseball diamond as senior Autumn Grayczyk interned as a stadium operations intern for the Iowa Cubs baseball team.
The Iowa Cubs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs and play at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa. While the team is just 48-66 overall on the season, the top six Chicago Cubs prospects (according to MLB.com) are currently on the roster, allowing fans to get a taste of future major league talent.
Like her Pioneers softball teammate Lauren Heuberger who interned with the Kenosha Kingfish, Grayczyk is gaining valuable experience in the world of sports events. She is able to perform different tasks all around the ballpark, with a focus on fan experiences.
Graycyk shared some of her experiences below:
What are you doing at your internship?
I am maintaining a safe and clean stadium environment while also executing game day promotions on the field and ensuring hospitality.
How did you hear about the internship/what was the hiring process like?
I found this job through teamwork online, filled out an application, then had a zoom interview once my application was reviewed.
What skills are you learning that will translate to your career goals?
I'm learning a lot about what it takes to work in sports and how every department works together. I enjoy learning all the tasks that need to happen before the game in order for everything to run smoothly!
What can you take from this internship to carry over into your athletic career at UW-Platteville?
This internship is building my teamwork skills and enhancing my work ethic even when things get difficult.
Have you enjoyed the internship thus far?
I have enjoyed this internship! I'm very appreciative of this opportunity and everything I have learned!
Anything else you would like to mention about the internship?
I was encouraged by Coach Harris to take this opportunity and I'm really glad he pushed me out of comfort zone to achieve my goals.
