Roughen, Davis Named Academic All-District
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Juniors Taylor Roughen and Alex Davis of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team were named to the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team it was announced on Tuesday.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Juniors Taylor Roughen and Alex Davis of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team were named to the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team it was announced on Tuesday.
The 2024 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their performances both on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be in sophomore, junior, or senior standing.
Roughen, an accounting major with a 3.830 GPA, was recently named to the WIAC Honorable Mention team following a season that saw her finish second in the conference in strikeouts (135) and innings pitched (127.2). The junior set UW-Platteville records for single-season shutouts (6) and strikeouts in a single game (15) over the course of the season.
Davis, who holds a 3.852 GPA as a psychology major, played in all 38 games while posting a career-high batting average of .260 across 96 at-bats. The junior finished second on the team with five stolen bases and drove in nine runs on the season.
