Dietz Named NFCA All-Region
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Freshman Melissa Dietz of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Region VIII First Team it was announced on Friday.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Freshman Melissa Dietz of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Region VIII First Team it was announced on Friday.
Dietz had a fantastic freshman campaign, finishing second in the WIAC in batting average (.469), on-base percentage (.523), and slugging percentage (.857). The Reedsburg native was fourth in the conference with eight home runs and paced the Pioneers with 12 doubles and a 25 RBI. Dietz scored 26 times on the season, good for second on the team, and struck out just eight times compared to 12 walks. She tallied 14 multi-hit games, including a pair of four-hit games against Minnesota-Morris on March 19 and UW-Whitewater on April 7. Between March 30 and April 22, Dietz hit safely in 15 straight games and recorded 16 RBI and six home runs over that stretch.
Dietz is the first All-Region honoree for the Pioneers since Lisa Karau in 2014.
