Pioneers wrap up season in WIAC Tournament
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team’s season came to a close Friday in the second day of the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver’s). The Pioneers finish with an overall record of 25-16 which sits second-best in program history, only behind the 1992 squad’s 29-11 season.

The Pioneers finish with an overall record of 25-16 which sits second-best in program history, only behind the 1992 squad's 29-11 season.
UW-Platteville was eliminated from the tournament after falling 9-0 in five innings to UW-Oshkosh (34-6).
The Pioneers got off to a bumpy start, giving up three runs on a throwing error and two wild pitches in the top of the first. The Titans' kept the Pioneers at bay all day long giving up two hits and then broke away 9-0 in the fifth inning to advance to the semifinals.
Sophomore Lauren Heuberger and freshman Calli Storms tallied the Pioneers hits while two Titans went 3-for-3 and registered 11 hits.
Senior Claire Bakkestuen (12-7) finished out her career striking out four, walking two and allowing eight hits and six runs (five earned) in four innings.
Maddi Fink (17-2) pitched a complete game for UW-Oshkosh striking out three, walking one and allowing two hits.
Amanda Stanczuk was the second Pioneer on the field Friday to wrap up their collegiate career in what was the senior class' second appearance in the WIAC Tournament.
