Pioneers split day one in Arizona
TUCSON, AZ – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Softball team split the first day of their Spring Break trip with a 10-2 victory in five innings over St. Scholastica after falling to Case Western Reserve 5-0 Friday afternoon in Tucson.

TUCSON, AZ – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Softball team split the first day of their Spring Break trip with a 10-2 victory in five innings over St. Scholastica after falling to Case Western Reserve 5-0 Friday afternoon in Tucson.
In game one, the Spartans' Dusstyn Reynolds collected a double, stolen base, drove in two, and a run of her own to lead Case Western Reserve.
The Spartans improve to 4-4, while the Pioneers dropped to 1-2.
The Pioneers collected six hits of their own, but were left scoreless while they held CWR to five hits.
Ashton Hoeppner (1-1) pitched six innings for the Pioneers while tallying six strikeouts, five hits, and two walks.The Spartans's Sidney Brannam completed the game with six strikeouts as well while giving up six hits and five walks.
In game two of the day, the Pioneers won 10-2 in five over the Saints of St. Scholastica at Lincoln Park.
Alejandra Ochoa had a stellar day as she tripled on a line drive to right field for 2RBI. Ochoa finished 2-for-3 with 3RBI. Following Ochoa, Shannon Gual fired off a double on a line drive to right field to run in teammates Ochoa and Kelsch.
Rachel Martin Finished with a team high three hits to bring her total of the day to four.
Abby Burns (1-0) relieved Andra O'Brien and tallied five of the Pioneers' seven strikeouts while giving up three hits and one earned run. The Saints' Tori Berg completed the game with two strikeouts and gave up 13 hits, nine earned runs, and eight walks.
The Pioneers improve to 2-2 while St. Scholastica falls to 6-9 with the loss. UW-Platteville will return to action Saturday with games against Skidmore and George Fox scheduled for the Pioneer's second day in Tucson.
