Pioneers split games in Dubuque
DUBUQUE, Iowa—The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team split a doubleheader against University of Dubuque on Monday. The Spartans won the opener 9-8 in 10 innings, and the Pioneers won the nightcap 6-4.

DUBUQUE, Iowa—The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team split a doubleheader against University of Dubuque on Monday. The Spartans won the opener 9-8 in 10 innings, and the Pioneers won the nightcap 6-4.
The Pioneers took an 8-3 in the top of the 10th, helped by Thianna Wegner's three-run home run, but the Spartans scored six in the bottom of the frame. Nikki Blum hit a game-winning, two-run double for the Spartans.
UW-Platteville bounced back to win the nightcap, rallying from a 4-3 deficit in the fifth inning. Wenger hit a two-run double to give the Pioneers a 5-4 advantage, and Rachel Bonnell added an insurance RBI single in the sixth.
The Pioneers, now 7-17 overall, will travel to play against UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, April 12.
