WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team began the 2017 season with two losses at Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri Saturday. The Tigers won the opener 8-0 and the nightcap 9-1.
Emily Woodford had two of the Pioneers' three hits in the first game, as Webster's Morgan Mansur threw a shutout. The Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning in a game ended in the fifth by the eight-run rule.
Game two was also a five-inning contest, but a much closer affair.
