Two Pioneer freshmen honored in the WIAC
Two members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team were honored in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their efforts throughout the 2016 season.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —Two members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team were honored in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their efforts throughout the 2016 season.
Freshman Emily Woodford earned honorable mention, while fellow freshman Becca Marchant secured a spot on the All-Sportsmanship team.
Woodford, a Moline, Illinois native, recorded a .889 fielding percentage this season playing the outfield for the Pioneers, with 29 put outs and three assists on 36 total chances. She also recorded one double play and logged 24 hits of her own this season, the highest number on the entire squad.
Marchant earned her spot on the All-Sportsmanship team for her character and charisma throughout the season, something the WIAC coaches all took note of. The Cambellsport, Wisconsin native also tacked on a .857 fielding percentage at first base for the Pioneers.
As a team this season, the Pioneers went 4-26, earning a team total .326 on base percentage and seven homeruns.
