The UW-Platteville softball team was setback by UW-River Falls, 2-1 and 9-1 in five innings on Saturday at Ramer Field in River Falls, Wis.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team was setback by UW-River Falls, 2-1 and 9-1 in five innings on Saturday at Ramer Field in River Falls, Wis.
The Pioneers scored the game's first run in the second inning. Sophomore Carley Rote led the frame off with a walk, and then scored two batters later on Haley Salazar's sacrifice fly.
The Falcons tied it up in the fourth, 1-1, with a two-out single.
Abbie Morris helped her own cause with a solo homer, putting UWRF up 2-1 in the sixth.
Morris then put the Pioneers down in order in the seventh, winning the 2-1 decision.
UW-Platteville's Jess Butzen didn't get the run support she needed, as she only allowed five hits.
The Falcons didn't waste any time to get on the board in the second game, scoring a run in the first frame.
UWRF broke the game wide open in the second with four runs, which was highlighted by a three-run homer by Sarah Bohlen.
Sophomore Keri Treml came in relief for Cassie Roach in the fourth, and scored the Pioneers' only run of the game on a sacrifice fly by junior Katie Huss in the top of the fifth.
River Falls took full advantage of an extra out given by the Pioneers, scoring four runs with two-outs to put the eight-run rule in affect.
Roach suffered the loss, giving up five runs on six hits.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Sunday when they travel to UW-Stout.
