Matt Weik is in his first year as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

The Freeport, Illinois native recently finished his playing career for the Pioneers, where he was a four-year letterwinner. For eight semesters, he was named to the Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll. He was the recipient of the Gabe Miller Award for his contributions to the Pioneer men's basketball program.

Weik was a three-year member of the Pioneer Student-Athlete Advistory Commerce, where he served as one of the chairperson during his senior season. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in Health Promotion in May 2012.

As an undergradaute, he worked as a student trainer within the Pioneer Activity Center for students and staff of the university and developed training programs. Plus, he administered cholesterol, body composition, flexibility, strength, blood pressure and VO2 testing as a Fitness Lab Technician.

Following his graduation, he served as an intern in the strength and conditioning department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked with past and present Badger men's basketball, men's and women's hockey players. As part of his internship, he set up and designed training routines.
