Bio

Max Kunde will take over as the UW-Platteville Pioneers Athletic Center manager while continuing to serve as an assistant coach on the men's basketball team, a position he has held since the 2018-19 season.

A native of Marengo, Illinois, Kunde's coaching career has kept him near Platteville over the years. In 2014, Kunde began as a student-manager with the Pioneers men's basketball team before moving to a student assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. During that time, Kunde was also the head freshman boys coach and varsity assistant coach at Platteville High School from 2015 through 2017. In 2018, he was elevated to assistant coach for the Pioneers and in 2022-23 he added men's basketball recruiting coordinator to his title. Currently, Kunde is in charge of on and off campus recruiting, high school and youth tournaments, skill development, and other day-to-day operations surrounding the men's basketball team.

Kunde has also spent five years coaching AAU basketball with the Wisconsin Swing program and assisted with various other summer basketball camps and showcases throughout the Midwest. He has spent time working with NBA Development Coach Phil Beckner and Driven Basketball in Phoenix, Arizona.

Kunde graduated in 2018 with a teaching degree and recently received his Masters in Athletic Sports Administration from UW-Platteville in 2023. He resides in Platteville with his wife Erin.
