Bio

A native of Marengo, Illinois, Max Kunde's coaching career has kept him near Platteville over the years.  In 2014 Kunde assisted the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Men’s basketball as a student-manager. In 2015 he began his coaching career at Platteville High School coaching both basketball and football. He acted as freshmen boys basketball coach and varsity assistant for two years as well as coaching football for three years as wide receivers coach and two years as Head JV football coach. Kunde returned to the Pioneer bench in 2016 as a student-assistant coach for two years and in 2018 moved into a full time assistant working with day-to-day operations, skill development, on and off campus recruiting, and acts as the youth and high school tournament director. During his coaching career at UW-Platteville, the Pioneers have reached the Division 3 NCAA Tournament three times and compiled a record of 65-21 since joining the program three years ago. 

Kunde is also entering his second year as a 16U coach for the AAU Wisconsin Swing program. Over the past few years he has assisted at various summer basketball camps and showcases throughout the Midwest. He has also coached for organizations such as Breakthrough Basketball and has most recently accepted a position with Point Guard College (PGC). 

Kunde is a 2019 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is currently employed as a science teacher at St. Rose Elementary in Cuba City while residing in Platteville, WI.
