Pearson, Gard Collect District And Region Honors
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team added more hardware to his postseason collection on Tuesday, as he was named both NABC District IX Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region 9 Player of the Year. Pioneers head coach Jeff Gard was tabbed NABC District IX Coach of the Year as well.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team added more hardware to his postseason collection on Tuesday, as he was named both NABC District IX Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region 9 Player of the Year. Pioneers head coach Jeff Gard was tabbed NABC District IX Coach of the Year as well.
Pearson earned the pair of District and Region Player of the Year awards for the second consecutive year in addition to First Team recognition from both the NABC and D3hoops.com. The 2024-25 WIAC Player of the Year averaged a conference-high 19.8 points per game and became just the eighth player in WIAC history to surpass 2,000 career points. Pearson ranked eighth in the conference in field goal percentage (51.0 percent) and was fourth in three-point percentage (37.2 percent) and third in free throw shooting (82.9 percent). The Kimberly native concluded his Pioneers career with 2,112 points, which is the sixth-most all-time in WIAC history.
Gard collects his second postseason award after being tabbed WIAC Coach of the Year in early March. The 16th-year head coach guided the Pioneers to both the WIAC regular season and conference tournament titles for the second consecutive season and finished with a 26-3 overall record, including a 13-1 mark in WIAC play. UW-Platteville advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in the past eight seasons before ultimately falling in the second round.
