Nies, Probst Named Academic All-District
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Brad Nies and Ben Probst of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team were named to the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team it was announced on Tuesday.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Brad Nies and Ben Probst of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team were named to the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team it was announced on Tuesday.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their performances both on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be in sophomore, junior, or senior standing.
Nies started all 31 games for the Pioneers and holds a 3.548 cumulative GPA as an accounting major. The senior shot 54.9 percent from the floor and averaged 4.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Nies scored a season-high 13 points in a win over UW-Oshkosh on January 10.
Probst, a finance major, has a 3.701 cumulative GPA and averaged 13.3 points per game while starting all 31 contests. The senior broke the UW-Platteville program record for three-pointers made in a single season with 82 while shooting an impressive 45.3 percent from beyond the arc. The All-WIAC Honorable Mention scored a season-high 27 points with seven made threes in the Pioneers NCAA Tournament win over Case Western Reserve on March 8.
Probst was also selected as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America team, which will be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on April 17.
