Pioneers Beat UW-River Falls 82-73 Saturday
RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team (18-3, 9-1 WIAC) won its fifth straight road game with an 82-73 win over UW-River Falls (12-9, 6-4 WIAC) on Saturday afternoon inside Page Arena.

The Pioneers knocked down seven threes in the first half to carry a 10-point lead into the break at 39-29. Neither team was able to take control for much of the half until a 15-2 run in favor of the UW-Platteville in the closing minutes pushed the visitors in front by double digits. Senior Logan Pearson paced the offensive attack with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting and 3-of-3 from beyond the arc across the opening 20 minutes, while sophomores Max Love and Joey Fuhremann each added six points.
UW-Platteville maintained the double-digit advantage for the first nine minutes of the second half until an eight-point run by the Falcons cut the lead down to two at 61-59. Love ended the run with a triple and Pearson later increased the gap back to eight with a layup in transition. UW-River Falls brought it back to three with 4:11 on the clock, but the Pioneers got baskets from freshman Bristol Lewis and Love to go back up eight. UW-Platteville led by multiple possessions for the remainder of the game to win 82-73.
Pearson finished with a game-high 29 points and six rebounds, while his four assists tied for the team lead with junior Brady Olson. Love tallied 17 points, while Fuhremann scored 14 points off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting.
The Pioneers shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the floor in the win, including 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from beyond the arc. UW-River Falls also shot well in the game, finishing at 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the field.
UW-Platteville turned the ball over a season-low three times, which led to a 9-3 advantage in points off turnovers. The Pioneers also grabbed 10 offensive rebounds, including eight in the second half, to finish with 12 second chance points.
The Pioneers return home to face UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
