Pearson and Nies Earn WIAC Postseason Awards
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team was named to the 2022-23 All-WIAC Men’s Basketball Team, as well as the All-Defensive Team, the league announced on Tuesday. Senior Brad Nies earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team was named to the 2022-23 All-WIAC Men's Basketball Team, as well as the All-Defensive Team, the league announced on Tuesday. Senior Brad Nies earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Pearson paced the WIAC in scoring, averaging 20.2 points per game while posting a shooting split of 48.2 percent from the floor, 36.2 percent from three, and 81.3 percent at the line. The junior led the team with 5.7 rebounds per game, which ranked seventh in the conference, and dished out a team-leading 2.8 assists per contest, good for third in the WIAC. Pearson scored 20 or more points in 15 games, including 30 or more four times. In a win over Concordia Moorhead on December 29, Pearson tallied a season-high 35 points on 14-of-18 shooting while adding eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
Nies started all 26 games and averaged 6.7 points in 21.3 minutes per contest. The senior paced the Pioneers with a 61.0 shooting percentage and finished second on the team in rebounds (5.0) and first in offensive rebounds (2.0). Nies reached double digits in points six times on the season, including a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double against UW-Eau Claire on February 8.
