Men’s Basketball receives national academic excellence award with six earning individual honors
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team was recognized for the third consecutive year for its academic success by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team was recognized for the third consecutive year for its academic success by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
UW-Platteville was one of two WIAC schools honored by the NABC; UW-Eau Claire was also honored. More than 300 programs from all divisions received an NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, while over 2,000 individuals were honored.
The Pioneers tied with UW-Whitewater with six individuals honored to lead the WIAC. Fifth-year seniors Alex Ranney, a health and human performance major; Quentin Shields, a biology major; and Braden Nies, a civil engineering major, were joined by senior Blake McCann, a building construction management major; senior Kyle Tuma, a building construction management major; and junior Brad Nies, an accounting major.
McCann, Ranney, Shields and Tuma were repeat honorees by the NACB.
