No. 8 Pioneers win big on Senior Night

The Pioneers celebrated their seniors Tanner Hudziak, Carter Voelker and Tim Bassuener in their last regular season home game.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team (20-3, 10-2 WIAC) ranked No. 8 on the D3hoops.com poll, defeated UW-River Falls (12-11, 5-7 WIAC) 94-54 on Saturday night. The Pioneers celebrated their seniors Tanner Hudziak, Carter Voelker and Tim Bassuener in their last regular season home game.
First half
- The Pioneers led 14-13 and scored 12 unanswered points to take a 26-13 lead with 8:45 remaining in the first half.
- The Pioneers led 49-29 going into halftime.
- Voelker had 20 first half points and shot 87.5% (7-of-8) from the field and 100% (6-of-6) from three-point range. Voelker added three assists, two rebounds and a steal in the half.
- Junior Drew Gunnink had 12 points in the half and shot 66.7% (4-of-6) from the field and 80% (4-of-5) from three-point range. Gunnink also had five rebounds.
- The Pioneers shot 53.1% (17-of-32) from the field and 61.1% (11-of-18) from three-point range and the Falcons shot 36.7% (11-of-30) from the field and 23.1% (3-of-13) on three-point attempts.
- The Pioneers shot 50% (4-of-8) from the free throw line and UW-River Falls shot 66.7% (4-of-6) from the free throw line.
Second half
- The Pioneers had 11 players score and all 17 players got on the court in the second half.
- Voelker had 10 points in the half.
- The Pioneers shot 44.1% (15-of-34) from the field and 53.3% (8-of-15) from three-point range while UW-River Falls shot 29.6% (8-of-27) from the field and 20% (2-of-10) on three-pointers.
- The Pioneers shot 70% (7-of-10) from the free throw line while UW-River Falls shot 70% (7-of-10).

- UW-Platteville improves to 20-3 overall, 10-2 WIAC.
- UW-River Falls falls to 12-11 overall, 5-7 WIAC.
- The Pioneers set a program record with 19 three-point shots in a single game breaking a record of 16 three-pointers set on November 21, 2017 against Simpson College.
- Voelker finished with 30 points, shot 76.9% (10-of-13) from the field, 87.5% (7-of-8) from three-point range and had five assists and three rebounds.
- Gunnink finished with 19 points and shot 63.6% (7-of-11) from the field and 71.4% (5-of-7) from three-point territory.
- UW-Platteville shot 48.5% (32-of-66) from the field and 57.6% (19-of-33) from beyond the three-point arc. UW-River Falls shot 33.3% (19-of-57) from the field and 21.7% (5-of-23) from three-point territory.
- The Pioneers shot 61.1% (11-of-18) from the free throw line and the Falcons shot 68.8% (11-of-16).
