Younker Named Academic All-American
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Sophomore Benjamin Younker of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team was named to the 2024 College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team it was announced on Tuesday.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Sophomore Benjamin Younker of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team was named to the 2024 College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team it was announced on Tuesday.
Younker, a civil engineering major with a 3.853 GPA, becomes the fifth player in team history to earn the Academic All-American. The sophomore is the first to earn the honor since Andrew Rakers in 2019 and is the second punter in program history to collect Academic All-American, joining Mark Rae, who took home three straight from 1985-1987.
The Genoa, Illinois native was named a D3football.com Second Team All-American following a season that saw him average a conference-best 42.9 yards per punt. Younker placed 18 of his 41 punts inside the 20-yard line, and his long punt of 75 yards in the DIII playoff game against Wartburg is the longest punt in UW-Platteville history. In addition to the D3football.com All-American recognition, Younker earned First Team All-WIAC and D3football.com First Team All-Region honors.
