PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team earned D3football.com All-Region 6 honors on Wednesday, while Pioneers head coach Ryan Munz was named Region Coach of the Year. Wide receiver Brandt Stare and punter Benjamin Younker were named All-Region First Team, with quarterback Michael Priami and defensive lineman Aidan Sproule tabbed Second Team.
Munz picked up his postseason award after being named AFCA Region Coach of the Year and WIAC George Chryst Coach of the Year over the past couple weeks. The third-year head coach guided the Pioneers to a WIAC title, the program's first since 1970 while posting a 9-2 overall record. Three of UW-Platteville's came against ranked opponents in UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, and UW-Whitewater.
Stare, who was named a semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy last week, earned All-Region honors for the first time after posting 786 yards and 14 receiving scores across his 53 catches. The 2024 WIAC Offensive Player of the Year added another touchdown on the ground and even threw one during his fantastic senior campaign. Stare set several UW-Platteville records throughout the season, breaking program marks in career receptions (235), receiving yards (3077), and receiving touchdowns (41). The Naperville, Illinois, native also holds the WIAC career receiving touchdown record and his 46 total career touchdowns ranks second in Pioneers program history.
Younker was named First Team punter after averaging a conference-best 42.9 yards per punt in his first season as the Pioneers punter. The sophomore, who also earned WIAC First Team honors, totaled 1760 yards across his 41 punts, and his long of 75 yards in the playoff game against Wartburg is the longest punt in UW-Platteville history. Eleven of Younker's attempts went for over 50 yards, and 18 landed inside the 20-yard line, the most in the WIAC.
Priami earned Second Team honors following a season that saw him match the UW-Platteville program record for single-season touchdown passes with 37. The senior completed 68.8 percent of his pass attempts for a career-high 2848 yards while adding 61 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. The First Team WIAC member reached the 300-yard plateau three times and threw at least five touchdowns in a game four times, including a season-high six against UW-Eau Claire.
Sproule collected WIAC Defensive First Team recognition after recording 4.0 sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss across 11 games along the UW-Platteville defensive front. The senior set a new career-high with 28.0 tackles and was a key piece for a Pioneers run defense that allowed just 3.2 yards per carry on the season.
