Emendorfer and Daeuber honored by WFCA
Head Coach Mike Emendorfer was named WIAC Coach of the Year, and Assistant Head Coach/Special Team Coordinator/ Defensive Backs Coach Ulz Daeuber was named WIAC Assistant Coach of the Year by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA).
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Head Coach Mike Emendorfer was named WIAC Coach of the Year, and Assistant Head Coach/Special Team Coordinator/ Defensive Backs Coach Ulz Daeuber was named WIAC Assistant Coach of the Year by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA).
Emendorfer and Daeuber received their respective awards on Sunday at the WFCA All-State Banquet inside Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.
Emendorfer recently completed his 15th season at the helm of the Pioneer football program. He led UW-Platteville to its first NCAA Division III playoff berth, and guided the Pioneers to a 9-1 the regular season record, which earned one of five at-large bids to the NCAA playoffs. The seventh-ranked Pioneers hosted Concordia (Wis.) in the first round of the playoffs and defeated the Falcons, 52-24, for UW-Platteville's first playoff win in school history. The Pioneers fell to No. 4 North Central in the second round, ending UW-Platteville's history-making season with a 10-2 record.
In 2013, Daeuber developed four all-conference, two all-region and an all-American. He has guided a defensive back to all-American status the last two seasons. Daeuber has also helped produce two of the best kickers in school history, Zach Litchfield and Tony Smidl. Litchfield became the Pioneers' all-time leader in points by a kicker (268 points) in 2013 and surpassed Smidl's 185 point mark.
