Austin and Kelly earn All-American honors by D3football.com
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Rob Austin and John Kelly were named 2013 third team All-American by D3football.com.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Rob Austin and John Kelly were named 2013 third team All-American by D3football.com.
Austin, a junior from Calumet City, Ill., garnered first team all-region honors earlier this month. The defensive back led the WIAC and ranked 33rd in the nation with 17 passes defended. He tallied 14 pass breakups and three interceptions and was also named first team all-conference.
Kelly was named West Region Offensive Player of the Year by D3football.com and also WIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Kelly set four single season school records. He completed 303 passes for 3,626 yards and 36 touchdowns while totaling 3,881 total yards of offense.
Austin and Kelly led the Pioneers to their first NCAA playoff berth. The Pioneers finished 10-2 with their only losses coming from National Champion UW-Whitewater and national semifinalist North Central.
