Pioneers Take Down Warriors Behind Offensive Output
GLENDALE, Wis. – Behind a season-high eight runs scored, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (5-3) got back in the win column with an 8-3 win over Wisconsin Lutheran (3-8) on Tuesday evening inside MSOE Raider Stadium in Glendale.

Freshman Anthony Massa got the scoring started for the Pioneers as he drove in two with a two-out single to left field in the top half of the first inning. UW-Platteville stranded the bases loaded in the frame, and Wisconsin Lutheran answered with one run in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch to cut the lead in half.
In the third inning, junior Sam Meidenabauer connected on a two-run home run, his first of the season, to increase the Pioneers lead to three. Sophomore Caleb Parker scored on the long ball after reaching on a bunt single and swiping second base.
The Warriors got one back in the bottom of the third, but UW-Platteville blew the game open with a four-run fourth inning to take an 8-2 lead. Freshman Trinity Beland singled to lead off the inning before stealing second, third, and home to record the first run of the inning. A couple more walks allowed Meidenbauer to drove in freshman Danny Hodel with an RBI groundout, and Massa plated Parker with a single to left. Junior Mason Molitor brought in Massa to cap the inning with a single to right.
The scoring quieted for the remainder of the game, with a solo home run in the eighth inning by Wisconsin Lutheran the only run across the final five innings.
Senior Brady Hoppert was credited with the win for the Pioneers, helping him improve to 1-1 on the year. He allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits across his five innings of work. Senior Jake Wegner gave up one run across the next three innings, and sophomore Peerson Kephart tossed a scoreless ninth with three strikeouts to wrap up the win.
The Pioneers finished with nine hits, led by a career-high four-hit performance from Massa. He drove in three runs and scored once. Meidenbauer also produced strong offensive numbers, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored.
Beland joined the duo with a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-5 with a double and three stolen bases. The Pioneers stole seven total bases, with Parker also coming away with two steals.
UW-Platteville will play its 2025 home opener on Sunday, March 23 in a doubleheader against Edgewood. Game one is scheduled to begin at noon, with the second game to follow.
