Pioneers Drop Road Contest To Dubuque Monday
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (4-3) snapped a three-game winning streak with a 6-2 loss to Dubuque (5-5) on Monday afternoon from Dan Runkle Baseball Field in Dubuque.

The Spartans broke through in the first inning, scoring a pair of runs on a two-out single up the middle. Dubuque added to its lead over the next couple innings with one run in the third via a wild pitch and another in the fifth on a single to left.
UW-Platteville got on the board in the top half of the sixth, as freshman Anthony Massa came around to score on a balk after initially reaching on a hit by pitch. The Spartans answered with a two-run seventh, getting one run on a single and another on a double, to increase the lead up to 6-1.
Junior Sam Meidenbauer led off the eighth for the Pioneers with a double and advanced to third on a single up the middle by Massa. Meidenbauer came in to score the final run of the game on a passed ball, as UW-Platteville fell 6-2.
Senior Isaac Bixby dropped to 2-1 on the season after allowing four runs on nine hits across his six innings of work. He struck out five and walked none. Junior Jordan Stanton tossed the final two frames for the Pioneers, allowing two runs on four hits.
UW-Platteville recorded nine hits in the contest, with sophomore Caleb Parker posting a three-hit performance. Freshman Trinity Beland and Meidenbauer each added a pair of hits and were active on the basepaths with a stolen base apiece.
For the Spartans, Aidan Elfering tallied three hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs. Tyson Dent finished with three RBI across his two base knocks.
The Pioneers will play again tomorrow, this time against Wisconsin Lutheran at 4 p.m. The game will take place inside MSOE Raider Stadium in Glendale, Wisconsin.
