Pioneers Fall To McMurry Sunday

Three extra-base hits helped McMurry score three runs in the bottom of the first to get out to an early lead. The offense kept rolling for the War Hawks with eight more runs across the next three innings to make it 11-0 after four frames.
The Pioneers got on the board in the top half of the sixth after two-out double by junior Justin Fago came around to score on a single by sophomore Mason Molitor. After McMurry added another run, UW-Platteville scored one more in the seventh on a two-out double by sophomore Caleb Parker.
Junior Brady Hoppert was dealt the loss after giving up five runs across two innings of work. Senior Jake Schneider tossed the 3.2 innings and allowed seven runs (five earned) while striking out four before giving way to junior Conner Paulson, who recorded the final out.
The Pioneers totaled seven hits, led by two each for Parker and junior Brady Katterhagen. Fago, Parker, and Katterhagen each tallied a double in the contest for UW-Platteville's three extra-base hits.
After a day off on Monday, UW-Platteville takes on Sewanee at noon on Tuesday in Pensacola.
