Five Pioneers Named Academic All-District
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Five members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team have been named to the Academic All-District Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) it was announced on Tuesday. Senior Brandon Molldrem, senior Mitchell McLaughlin, junior Jake Schneider, sophomore Isaac Bixby, and sophomore Brady Hoppert each received the recognition.

Senior Brandon Molldrem, senior Mitchell McLaughlin, junior Jake Schneider, sophomore Isaac Bixby, and sophomore Brady Hoppert each received the recognition.
The 2023 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their performances both on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be in sophomore, junior, or senior standing.
Molldrem boasts a 3.825 GPA as a software engineering major and made eight appearances on the mound for the Pioneers. The senior posted a record of 2-4 with a 6.61 ERA across 31.1 innings pitched.
McLaughlin holds a 3.925 GPA as an AgriBusiness major and played in 27 games for UW-Platteville. The senior hit .253 with 17 runs scored and six RBI while playing behind the plate and around the infield.
Schneider made 10 relief appearances throughout the season and is a construction management major with a 3.952 GPA. The junior finished with one save and a career-high 22 strikeouts across 18.0 innings of work.
Bixby made nine starts for the Pioneers and is a civil engineering major with a 3.981 GPA. The sophomore went 3-3 on the season with a 6.02 ERA and 34 strikeouts. Bixby's best start came against UW-Eau Claire on April 15 when he tossed a complete game while striking out 10 in a 7-1 victory.
Hoppert has a GPA of 3.947 as an engineering major. The sophomore made nine starts for UW-Platteville and posted a record of 2-5 with 25 strikeouts across 39.2 innings on the mound.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early June.
