Pioneers Drop Two Against UW-Oshkosh Saturday
OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (10-18, 7-11) fell by scores of 11-0 and 14-2 in a pair of seven inning games against UW-Oshkosh (20-6, 11-3 WIAC) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium in Oshkosh.

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (10-18, 7-11) fell by scores of 11-0 and 14-2 in a pair of seven inning games against UW-Oshkosh (20-6, 11-3 WIAC) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium in Oshkosh.
The Titans took game one of the doubleheader 11-0 in seven innings, scoring multiple runs in three of the six frames they hit in. After tallying three runs in the second and another in the third, UW-Oshkosh launched a three-run home run in the fourth to lead by seven. Four more runs in the fifth gave the hosts a double-digit lead.
Sophomore Brady Hoppert was dealt the loss after allowing nine earned runs across 4.1 innings. The Pioneers finished with six hits, including a triple by senior Zach McCoy, but Titans starting pitcher Connor Brinkman kept UW-Platteville scoreless across seven innings while striking out seven.
In game two, UW-Oshkosh pulled ahead 5-0 after three innings before sophomore Justin Fago got the Pioneers on the board in the fourth with a single to score junior Hunter Hopkins. The Titans responded with a big fourth of their own, scoring seven runs to increase the lead to 13-1. UW-Platteville scored once in the fifth but were unable to get any closer as UW-Oshkosh won 13-2.
Senior Grant Mullins and junior Jordan Collins each had a pair of hits to pace the Pioneers offense in game two. Freshman William Hough was handed his first loss of the season after giving up five earned runs in three innings.
UW-Platteville continues its four-game series against UW-Oshkosh tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at noon. Game two tomorrow is set for 3 p.m.
