Pioneers Wrap Up Play In Florida With Loss

Hendrix found success at the plate early in the game, scoring twice in the first and adding another on a double in the second. The Warriors extended the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a four-run inning on three hits and an error.
The Pioneers scored once in the top half of the seventh as senior Grant Mullins scored on an error after reaching via walk to lead off the inning. Hendrix scored once more in the eighth to increase the advantage to 8-1.
Junior Parker Heidorf was charged with the loss for UW-Platteville after allowing three earned runs in three innings of work. Freshman Jacob Melendrez and junior Brady Hubbard pitched clean innings out of the bullpen for the Pioneers.
Senior Mitchell McLaughlin and sophomore Chris Tsouras each tallied a pair of hits as the Pioneers recorded seven hits as a team. Mullins walked three times, and UW-Platteville was patient at the plate throughout, drawing eight walks.
The Pioneers open up WIAC play this weekend when they host UW-Stevens Point for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The games are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day.
