Getting to Know Mitchell

What do you plan to bring to the UW-Platteville baseball program in 2020?
I plan to bring a winning attitude to the team as a whole, while providing a steady bat and and being a reliable catcher on the field.

What is your nickname? How did you get it and who gave it to you?
It's McGiggles because most of the people that I know here cannot properly say my last name without making a joke out of it, so it stuck.

Who are the role models in your life and why?
Mostly my dad because he is a person that I want my life to mimic; he has a great working mindset and was willing to be with me through anything in my life.

Who or what inspired you to play baseball and why?
My former travel coach Mike Mather because of his ability to scare you and teach you at the same time. He taught me almost everything I knew about modern baseball and and was a great person overall.

Favorite baseball moment as a Pioneer or in high school if you are a freshman?
My multi-homerun game in Dakota. It made me feel like a true power hitter.

If you were a superhero what would your name be and what superpower would you have?
The Teleporter, the ability to teleport

Pre-game rituals or game day superstitions:
Drink a Mountain Dew Kickstart. They taste phenomenal and I would say its superstitious by now.

Big farm guy

What advice would you give to future Pioneers?
Work extremely hard before you get here. It will help keep you ahead of the game as a freshman.

If you won a million dollars what would you buy?
A new truck/car

What is one thing you would put on your bucket list?
Visit Yellowstone National Park in the winter to snowmobile in the deep mountain snowl

What place would you like to visit most?
Arizona to Spring Training

What are your hobbies away from baseball?
Snowmobiling, slowpitch softball, and playing video games

Favorite sports team/player?
Chicago White Sox/ Nolan Arenado is favorite player

Favorite movie?
Cat in the Hat

One yellow lab named Lucy

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
Camelion so I can blend in

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Jonathan Kelso set new University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball records for both career hits and single season hits during the WIAC doubleheader against UW-Stevens Point at Kendall Murray Field. While the Pointers won with an 11-4 decision in game one and 6-2 victory in the nightcap, Kelso finished the day at 196 career hits with 68 hits this season. Ross Bennett (2005-08) previously held the career hits record with 195 while Ryan Levendoski set the previous season hits record of 64 in 2004.
