The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team was unable to get their offense in gear in a pair of losses to UW-La Crosse Wednesday night.
The Pioneers fell in game one 12-3 and dropped game two 13-2 in seven innings.
Game One
The Pioneers fell behind in the first frame, allowing four runs in the bottom of the first.
George Jester III went deep to lead off the second for the Pioneers, but the Eagles responded with a three-run second inning to take a 7-1 lead.
Ryan Duva got two runs back for the Pioneers in the top of the fourth with a two-RBI double down the leftfield line. UW-La Crosse got two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to push the lead even further.
Duva led the team with two hits and two RBIs.
Game Two
The nightcap saw much of the same for the Pioneers, as UW-La Crosse scored the first 10 runs of the game before the Pioneers plated two in the fifth.
That fifth inning rally came with two outs, as Tanner Galeazzi doubled in the third at-bat of the inning, and Duva brought him home with a single through the left side. Duva later scored on an Eagle error.
UW-La Crosse scored three runs in the fifth and held that 13-2 lead until the seventh when the 10-run rule applied.
Despite the loss, Austin Daniels had a solid outing coming in from the bullpen, hurling two scoreless innings.
The Pioneers return home for a doubleheader with the Titans of UW-Oshkosh beginning at noon on Saturday.
