PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Below are a list of all the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic events taking place for the week of March 4-10.
This Week: The Pioneer baseball team finally will start its 2013 campaign this week after having all three games cancelled last week. The Pioneers open the season against Greenville (Ill.) on Thursday and will wrap up the week with a three-game series with North Central (Ill.) in Jacksonville, Ill.

Last week: The Pioneers went 1-3 in their weekend trip to Memphis, Tenn.
The Pioneers fell to Rhodes, 10-3 and bounced back to be DePauw, 8-1 on Saturday. On Sunday, UW-Platteville lost both games falling to DePauw, 5-2 and to Rhodes 1-0.
Newcomer Becca Lowe went 8-for-12 for the weekend and stole eight bases. Sophomore Taylor Ruchti recorded seven its in 13 at bats. Jeni Freiburger earned the Pioneers only victory and threw five innings and only allowed three hits and one run. Freshman Keri Treml pitched four relief innings and held the opposing batters to a .083 averages.

Last week: The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team competed in the NCAA Division III Wrestling West Regional, hosted by Augsburg. Sophomore 141 pounds Tyler Henken earned the Pioneers only spot to nationals.
The Pioneers tallied 47 team points, good for seventh place. Host Augsburg led all teams with 143.5 points.
This week: UW-Platteville track & field will have five individuals compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. Senior Aaron Hrubes will compete in the 60-meter dash, freshman Ian LaMere in the 5000-meter run, junior T.J. Valley in the 60-meter hurdles and senior Chas Spangenberg in the pole vault. On the women’s side, Deidre Dillman will compete in the 800-meter run.
Last week: The Pioneers had nine individuals competed in last chance meets on either Friday in Madison or Saturday in Stevens Point.
