Pioneers name athletes of the week

Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Robert Duax, So. (Dubuque, IA/Hempstead) Guard – Duax averaged 17.5 points and 7 rebounds 3 assist and 2.5 steals in two games last week while the Pioneers went 1-1 on the week.  In Tuesday’s 57-40 victory at sixth-ranked North Central College, the sophomore totaled 15 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes of action.  In the Pioneers’ Dec. 3 loss to Central College, Duax had 20 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and five steals.

Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Morgan Horstman, So. (Bangor, WI) Center – Horstman scored a game-high 22 points in the Pioneers win 74-70 win over Simpson on Nov. 30.  The sophomore was a perfect four-for-four from behind the arc and connected on seven of her 11 attempted field goals overall and grabbed five rebounds in the win.  For the week, Horstman averaged 17 points on .420 shooting as the Pioneers went 1-1.

Wrestling Athlete of the Week – D’Andre Johnson, So. (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) Heavyweight – With the Pioneers behind 19-16 entering the final match, Johnson earned a second period pin to clinch a WIAC dual meet victory for UW-Platteville over UW-Oshkosh on Dec. 1.
