Pioneers name athletes of the week, LaMere earns WIAC honors

Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Ian LaMere, Sr., (Green Bay, WI/Southwest) - LaMere finished sixth out of 314 finishers in the Division I Gold race at the Louisville Classic on Saturday. The senior made his season debut crossing the finish in 23:59.54, his fastest time ever in October. Later in the day, the winner of the Division III Pre-Nationals race crossed the finish in 24:53.60. LaMere was named this week's National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). |

Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Chelsey Heiden, Sr., (Greendale, Wis.) - Heiden finished 25th out of 333 finishers at the Louisville Classic Division III Pre-Nationals race. Heiden crossed the finish in 22:33.44, a 17-second improvement from her performance the previous week. |

Football Defensive Athlete of the Week – Jacob Forney, Jr. (South Holland, IL/Marian Catholic) Linebacker – Forney had nine tackles in the Pioneers’ 30-24 setback to second-ranked UW-Whitewater on Oct. 1. The junior recorded two tackles for loss that resulted in a loss total of 20 yards. |

Football Offensive Athlete of the Week – Dan Arnold, Sr. (Fargo, ND/Shanley) Wide Receiver – Arnold had 10 receptions for 184 yards and one touchdown in the Pioneers’ six-point loss to second-ranked UW-Whitewater on Oct. 1. The senior averaged 18.4 yards per catch. |

Football Special Team Athlete of the Week – Connor Foley, So. (Cedar Rapids, IA/Xavier) Punter – Foley had five punts with an average of 43 yards a punt in the Pioneers 30-24 setback to second-ranked UW-Whitewater. The sophomore also placed two of his punts inside the Warhawks 20-yard line. |

Women’s Golf – Stephanie Baribeau, Sr. (Cameron, WI/ Rice Lake) – Baribeau finished tied for thirteenth place in a 63 player field at the Mad Dawg Invite Saturday and Sunday in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The senior finished with rounds of 85 and 85, to lead the Pioneers. |

Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week – Grace Austin, So. (Wilton, IA) Libero – Austin recoded 48 digs (5.3/set) in nine sets played against UW-Oshkosh on Sept. 28 and Iowa Wesleyan University and Coe College on Sept. 30. The sophomore recorded a 10-dig second set against 23rd-ranked UW-Oshkosh, and finished with 17 digs against Iowa Wesleyan and Coe respectively. |

Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week – Allie Jensen, Jr. (Lowden, IA/North Cedar) Outside Hitter – Jensen registered 28 kills, while hitting .200, to go along with 32 digs, four blocks, and one ace in nine sets played against 23rd-ranked UW-Oshkosh on Sept. 28 and Iowa Wesleyan University and Coe College on Sept. 30. Jensen averaged 3.1 kills per set over the three matches, including 3.3 kills per set against the Titans. |
