Four Teams In Action This Week For The Pioneers

Women's Basketball Hits the Road for Two Games
After splitting two games at the Hope College Tip-Off Tournament this past weekend, the Pioneers women's basketball team will play a pair of road contests this week. UW-Platteville heads to Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start before traveling to Augustana (Ill.) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Bethany Lutheran has started the season 0-3 with recent losses to Wheaton and Dubuque over the weekend. Gianna Klarenbeek has been the top scorer for the Vikings, with 15.3 points per game, while Lexiss Trygg has added 10.3 pionts off the bench.
Augustana played a pair of games at the Hyatt Place Tournament to begin the season, going 1-1 with a win over Simpson on Saturday afternoon. Macy Beinborn (16.5 points per game) and Emma Berg (14.5) are the top two scorers for the Vikings.
Men's Basketball Heads to Small College Basketball Classic
The Pioneers men's basketball team will take a 2-0 record into the Small College Basketball Classic this weekend in Aberdeen, South Dakota. UW-Platteville plays Saint John's (Minn.) on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. before facing Keene State on Saturday at the same time.
The Johnnies will begin their season on Tuesday night at UW-Eau Claire before heading to Aberdeen later this week. Saint John's will also play Stockton at the Small College Basketball Classic following the matchup against the Pioneers.
Keene State beat Western New England 105-69 in its season opener over the weekend and will play Stockton and UW-Platteville this coming weekend. The Owls got 27 points from Octavio Brito in that win, along with 19 from Mason Jean Baptiste.
Cross Country Sends One to NCAA National Championships
Sophomore Caden Schneider of the Pioneers men's cross country team will compete at the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday after earning an invite to the meet following a strong showing at the NCAA North Regionals this past weekend.
The meet will be held at Big Springs High School in Newville, Pennsylvania. The race is scheduled to being at 11 a.m.
Football Takes on Augustana (Ill.) in Culver's Isthmus Bowl
The Pioneers football team heads to the third annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl on Saturday for the first time in program history after winning 41-24 over UW-Stout this past weekend. UW-Platteville will take on Augustana (Ill.) with kick off from the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin set for 2 p.m.
Augustana earned the bid after finishing third in the CCIW with an 8-2 overall record and 7-2 mark in conference play. Saturday's game will be the 14th meeting between the two teams, with the Vikings leading the all-time series 9-4.
